She was much to young to understand me, but I was trying to explain to her what being present meant.
As she sat on her mother’s shoulders– breathing in the air from a higher altitude– I observed that she was too engrossed in her current adventure to consider what I was trying to explain.
That’s when I realized that the young child did not likely have the capacity to understand my definition of presence, but she had a remarkable capacity to experience it.
When you’re present, you don’t worry yourself about the meaning. That was only part of the lesson I was learning. In that moment, I didn’t have anything to teach the young child. The young child, was there to teach me.
Context: This is a dream I experienced this morning, including my loose interpretation behind the meaning of it.
