We don’t realize how much stuff we have until we move.
It’s easy to live in a place for years without feeling the presence of the things we’ve collected. Once we make accommodations for an object to exist in our space, it leisurely hangs around and becomes part of our environment.
But, when everything must be packed and moved to a new destination, our perspective of the things we have hanging around us can shift. “Do we really need…”, “Can we live without…” and “Why do we still have…” becomes part of the dialogue.
There is something about having to acknowledge everything in our presence, that adjusts the perceived value of the things we’ve claimed.
If you want to change your environment, maybe it’s time to move?
