Even maggots love

Last night I joined some friends for a writers event. We were given 15 minutes to read an excerpt from Toni Morrison’s book, Sula, and write about it. Here is what I wrote:

Love is at the core of every creation. Hannah, even the maggots that never got a chance to live in your big old eyes, because of your mothers love, love you. To exist at all is love. And love exists in the things that we can’t even imagine.

Let’s play; even if it’s only in our imagination.

Let’s love; even if it’s only in our memory.
